• General Comment. ² She was the only daughter in the family, with seven older brothers. She was at school at Rustenburg, Rondebosch, and then took a job in Standard Bank, Cape Town. The family lived in a house on the immediate mountainside of the railway line very near Newlands Rugby ground, and were great rugby followers.

She was a great singer, and took part with success in many singing Eistedford competitions.

During the 1939-45 war, she joined the SAWAS (SA Women's Auxiliary Services) and was also a member of a well-known group calling themselves the "Knitwits", knitting for the troops up north in Egypt. She was a recipient of "The South African Medal for War Services" in recognition of voluntary service to the Union of South Africa.

In 1942, she was Chairperson of the famous Bishops fete to raise funds for the troops.

After Clive's death, in 1972 she moved to a flat in Grosvenor Square in Rondebosch, where she and great friend Vi Munnik became the doyens, until she died in 1994. A resident friend wrote to her on her 80th birthday "… you deserve all the love you engender……you have the capacity to dispel loneliness with your warmth and smile."

She was a lovely person, with a lovely smile, a sense of humour, and many friends.
