MCCLURE, Virginia Gray (nee Welsford)
'Poppy' ended her days peacefully after a brave battle with cancer. She managed to find it in her - despite her illness - to do a drawing or painting most days up until the week she died. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Olaf McClure and her son, Eric McClure. She is survived by her daughter, Troy and a lifetime of drawings, paintings, ceramic pots, polyester resin sculptures, poems, knitted scarves, crochet string bags and whatever else her unstoppable hands could create. Also surviving her is the Visual Arts Centre, the Montreal art school and gallery she helped to pioneer and grow. Sincere gratitude to her dear friends, to her sister-in-law and to the medical community for their unstinting care and assistance during her illness. A funeral service will be held on the 13th of April at Westmount Park Church at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MUHC Palliative Care Service.
